The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right hand; 38
