Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
