The people of Lot cried lies to the Envoys 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
