The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the Visited House, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
