Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
