The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
