Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
