The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
