The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
