The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
