And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; 36 Devils divert men from the [right] way, while they think that they are rightly guided. 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 And it profiteth you not this day, because ye did wrong, that ye will be sharers in the doom. 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 Or if We shew thee that wherewith We threaten them, verily We are going to prevail over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
