Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the sorcerers came to Pharaoh, saying, 'We shall surely have a wage, if we should be the victors?' 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
