The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
