The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on fine parchment; 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 such as play at plunging, 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him.
