Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
