And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
