The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
