The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
