And Nuh! recall what time he cried aforetime; so we answered him and delivered him and his household from a calamity mighty. 76 We helped him against people who rejected Our Signs: truly they were a people given to Evil: so We drowned them (in the Flood) all together. 77 And David and Solomon they passed judgment upon the tilled land on which the people's sheep had strayed. We bore witness to their judgment, and 78 We made Solomon to understand it, and to both We gave judgment and knowledge. And with David We subjected the mountains and birds to exalt (Allah). All this We have done. 79 And We taught him the fashioning of garments for you, to fortify you against your violence; then are you thankful? 80 We made subservient to Solomon the swift wind that blew on his command to the land in which We had sent blessings. We have the knowledge of all things. 81 We also subjected to him some of the jinn who dived for him in the sea and performed other tasks; We kept a watch over them. 82 ۞ AND [remember] Job, when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Affliction has befallen me: but Thou art the most merciful of the merciful!" 83 So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah]. 84 And remember Ismail, and Idrees, and Zul-Kifl; they were all patiently enduring. 85 We encompassed them in Our mercy; they were righteous people. 86 And (remember) Dhan-Nun (Jonah), when he went off in anger, and imagined that We shall not punish him (i.e. the calamites which had befallen him)! But he cried through the darkness (saying): La ilaha illa Anta [none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah)], Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers." 87 We answered his prayer and saved him from his grief. Thus We save the faithful ones. 88 (Remember) Zachariah when he called to his Lord: "Do not leave me alone (and childless), for you are the best of givers." 89 We therefore heard his prayer; and bestowed him Yahya, and cured his wife for him; indeed they used to hasten to perform good deeds, and pray to Us with hope and fear; and used to weep before Us. 90 And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples. 91 Verily this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord; so worship Me. 92 And they broke their religion (into sects) between them: to Us shall all come back. 93
