The people of Lot denied the messengers 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 We rained upon them a rain, and evil is the rain (of stones) on those that are warned. 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
