The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
