AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
