Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
