The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the admonition hath been sent down! verily thou art possessed. 6 Why dost thou not bring before us angels, if thou art a man of truth? 7 We do not send down angels without reason, and if the angels descend they would not get any respite! 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched. 15

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
