Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about God. 5 But there were certain men of mankind who would take refuge with certain men of the jinn, and they increased them in vileness, 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 ‘And that when we heard the guidance, we accepted faith in it; so whoever accepts faith in his Lord, has no fear – neither of any loss nor of any injustice.’ 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 And that the mosques are Allah's, therefore call not upon any one with Allah: 18 Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. 19
