(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 46
