The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
