The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 190 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
