Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
