Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea) 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
