He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
