The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
