Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
