The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
