The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask thee (O Muhammad) of the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to Allah and the messenger, so keep your duty to Allah, and adjust the matter of your difference, and obey Allah and His messenger, if ye are (true) believers. 1 Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust. 2 They are steadfast in prayer and spend part of what We have given them for the cause of God. 3 those in truth are the believers; they have degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous provision. 4 A group among the believers dislike (God's decree about the booty captured in war) as well as His command that you come out of your home for a truthful purpose (to fight for justice). 5 Disputing with you concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death, while they were looking (at it). 6 And recall what time Allah was promising you one of the two parties that it should be yours, and ye would fain that the one without arms was yours; whilst Allah besought to justify the truth by His words and to cut off the root of the infidels. 7 In order that He may prove the truth and disprove falsehood, even if the criminals get annoyed. 8 Remember ye implored the assistance of your Lord, and He answered you: "I will assist you with a thousand of the angels, ranks on ranks." 9 God has sent this glad news to comfort your hearts. Victory is in the hands of God alone. God is Majestic and All-wise. 10
