And if we cause man to taste some mercy from Us and afterward withdraw it from him, lo! he is despairing, thankless. 9 And if We let him taste favour after harm hath touched him, he saith: the ills have departed from me; verily he becometh elated, boastful. 10 Not so those who are patient and do good deeds. They shall have forgiveness and a great reward. 11 Then would you possibly leave [out] some of what is revealed to you, or is your breast constrained by it because they say, "Why has there not been sent down to him a treasure or come with him an angel?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is Disposer of all things. 12 Or they say: He hath invented it. Say: Then bring ten surahs, the like thereof, invented, and call on everyone ye can beside Allah, if ye are truthful! 13 But if they do not answer you, know that it has been sent down with the knowledge of Allah, and that there is no god except He. So, have you surrendered (become Muslims)? 14 Whoso desireth the life of the world and its pomp, We shall repay them their deeds herein, and therein they will not be wronged. 15 Those are they for whom is naught in the Hereafter save the Fire. (All) that they contrive here is vain and (all) that they are wont to do is fruitless. 16 Is he then who has with him clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him recites it and before it (is) the Book of Musa, a guide and a mercy? These believe in it; and whoever of the (different) parties disbelieves in it, surely it is the truth from your Lord, but most men do not believe. 17 Who does greater wrong than the one who fabricates a lie against God? Such people shall be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied about their Lord." Surely God's rejection is merited by such wrongdoers. 18 Who hinder others from the way of Allah and would seek crockedness therein, and they: in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 19 They will not be able to escape in the earth, nor do they have any protecting friends apart from Allah; they will have punishment upon punishment; they were unable to hear, nor used to see. (* Hear or see the truth.) 20 Those are they that have lost their souls, and that they forged has gone astray from them; 21 Doubtlessly, they shall be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 22 But those who believe and do things good, and are humble before their Lord, are men of Paradise where they will abide for ever. 23 ۞ The example of the two parties is like the blind and deaf, and the seeing and hearing. Are they equal in comparison? Then, will you not remember? 24
