And mention thou in the Book Ibrahim; verily he was a man of truth, a prophet. 41 He said to his father: 'O father, why worship that which can neither see nor hear, nor helps you in anything? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 O My father! worship not the Satan; verily the Satan hath been unto the Compassionate a rebel. 44 Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan." 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 Abraham replied, "Peace be on you: I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness, He has indeed been gracious to me, 47 And I renounce you and that unto which ye call beside Allah; and I shall call unto my Lord; belike in calling unto my Lord I shall not be unblest. 48 So, when he went apart from them and that they were serving, apart from God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a Prophet; 49 And We gave them of Our Mercy (a good provision in plenty), and We granted them honour on the tongues (of all the nations, i.e. everybody remembers them with a good praise). 50
