So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
