The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
