And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 “Does he promise you that when you die and turn into dust and bones, you will be raised again?” 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
