O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But their nations broke their tasks into pieces; every group happy with what it has. 53 (Muhammad), leave them alone in their dark ignorance for an appointed time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 and those who associate naught with their Lord 59 and who give whatever they [have to] give with their hearts trembling at the thought that unto their Sustainer they must return: 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 And verily thou! thou callest them unto a Path straight. 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
