The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
