The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
