Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
