The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
