The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
