The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
