The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
