50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 To clear or to warn. 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 The heavens split asunder, 9 and when the mountains crumble into dust 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 For a known term? 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 and yellow camels. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
