The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
